Winston Churchill once said, “We shape our building, and then they shape us.” One couple shared how a dedicated gathering space at their former church helped them connect, while the lack of such a space at a new church made it difficult. As Churchill said, “We shape our buildings, and our buildings shape us.”
St. Giles has spaces for worship, prayer, education, staff, recreation, and meals. What we lack is a hospitable place for guests and connection. From medieval piazzas to the Temple’s court of the Gentiles, thoughtful gathering space has always mattered.
Our new Welcome Center is about belonging. It will offer an information desk, coffee bar, ample ADA compliant restrooms, safe access to the sanctuary and nurseries, and a stronger security posture, especially for children.
Please review the plans and videos, and consider giving to this project. It is not about brick and mortar. It is about people. We shape our buildings, and our buildings shape us.
